From Information to Intelligence
Most organisations don't lack data. They lack the layer that turns it into something a person can act on.
Dashboards multiplied faster than understanding. It's now common for a business to have more reporting than it can read, and still be unsure which number to trust.
Fewer numbers, better defined
Intelligence starts with subtraction: choose the handful of measures that describe whether the business is working, define them precisely, and agree who owns each one.
Attach a decision to every metric
If nobody can name the decision a number informs, that number is decoration. Every measure should have a threshold and an action attached to it before it earns a place on a screen.
